Industrial love affair between pipes and plants

We made our first two lamps and we started sharing them on Facebook. It was great for our self-confidence, the likes and comments were flowing. So then a former college colleague started noticing us... The rib cage lamp caught her eye and she said she wants something similar... only bigger... but warmer... but still industrial... for her apartment in Berlin :) Oh, boy, oh boy! We were so excited. New project traveling abroad. Oh, and the best part is that she gave us full creative freedom. Waaaaa... We started researching, asking for pictures of the room, bouncing ideas and thinking about integrating a special element in the lamp.... a plant. To the drawing board!

Minds twisted and bent, we started looking at the costs, adding this, taking that out... Until we arrived at that moment. Let the pipes assemblies begin. Twists and turns and sun fading after working long hours...

The trickiest part was to make a separate water tight circuit. But the two passionate lightsmits were up to the job and we made it.

Ana, that's our colleague's name, looked so pleased with the result and we were sooo glad. We were starting to think that we may actually be good at this sort of light projects. But good things kept coming. A year later this lamp was selected by Bucharest Street Delivery X as a showcase project for creative upcycling. We proved that pipes from renovation projects can be used for public illumination while increasing green space at the same time. We had so much fun telling all the people about our ideas and their feedback made us keep going.

So this is our thank you to Ana! She was great for letting us come up with our original concept. For full pictures and descriptions check out the Biopipe page on our website.
